Different German 8cm Wgr. question

pzgr40

Well-Known Member
I have this German 8cm mortar HE shell It differs from the "normal" HE shell in the fact that it has no inbetween ring between body and fuze. Who can help me on a cutaway drawing of this particular shell. I would like to know if the Gr Zdldg C98 is placed straight into the ecplosive charge , either if (for instance) a cartboard bushing was placed around the booster.

Thanks in advance,
Regards, DJH

Ps:I found it MAY be the 8cm WGr 34 ausfuhrug III Om(Ohne Mundlochbuchse). I however have no further info.

DJH,

could it be a Wgr 39 ? See picture.

Geert.

Edit: no, not a Wgr39, wrong internal structure...

Hi Chris, thanks a lot. Now the question remains; is the GR Zdldg.C/98 placed in the explosive charge straight away, either is there -for instance- a cartboaud bushing placed in the explosive charge in which the Gr.Zdlg C/98 is placed.
I also asume - lookin at the simplified design with less parts- that this is a late ww2 model.

Thanks ,
Regards, DJH

Hello,

The designation is Wgr 34 AIII ("Geschossrinbuch 1939")
