Dutch, foreign 2" mortar rounds

I have been collecting British 2" mortar round but have come across so called Dutch rounds very similar to British rounds but with slightly different markings. I have noticed that they are very well made in brass ie brass cartridge caps (quite thick in material. The metal stampings on the bodies are quite deep and crisp, all stamped in English. The illum rounds have P caps that sit inside the body marked FA. All rounds I have seen are post war. Did the Dutch (if it's is Dutch) make loads of different types ( just wondering if I start collecting them it will be another vast never ending collection or just a few types or just stick to British rounds. Any other counties that used the 2" mortar that you can find rounds to collect?

Indeed we manufactured ammunition for the 2" mortar, HE, WP illuminating and a few signal bombs. The fuzes are made from brass. I will post a document on those in the download section.

First thanks for loading the documents. Interesting to note, unusual to see how to fold the parachute in the manual, just wondering why? I thought most 2" rounds are ready made from the factory not load to fold you own. I didn't see any smoke only white phosphorus, is that what the Dutch only used for smoke? When did the Dutch start using the 2" mortar from.

Can't help you on the technical questions, but Dutch usage of the 2 inch mortar started during WW2 when the first Dutch volunteer units were raised from people that escaped occupied Holland and made it to Britain.

Hi BMG, yes we used the smoke too but I have no documents. I think that we used the mortar just after the second world war because we hadn't any industries left en where supplied by the Brits and USA.
