whilst looking through a copy of the English Electric Co. Ltd. war diary, I notice an entry that shows that an order for 1 million cast filling hole plugs and 1 million base plugs was placed on 25th July 1940 with the EECo. Stafford facility. The components were delivered at the rate of 50,000 per week between August 1940 and April 1941. I thought that was quite interesting and thought that someone else might too!

Dave

Dave,

What is the full title of the publication?

Thanks

TimG

Tim,

I'll leave Dave to give you the details but I have a copy you can borrow when we next meet (so long as you remind me).

hi Tim, the title is 'War Diary of English Electric Company Ltd, March 1938 - August 1945'. See attached. It will appear on a well known auction site next month!

hi BMG50, yes, the order for 750,000 cast fins was placed on 15th July 1942. Again these were to be delivered at the rate of 50,000 per week. Dave

Nice to have the war history of the companys that made these items. Any one know what happened to EEC in post war years and if they are still going today or who may have bought out the firm in later years, intresting to see if they have any blue pints etc in the company archives. Talking about archives, i wonder how many companies today that were about during the war still have wartime archive material.

I think they are now part of BAE . I assume they are the same English Electric who made the Lightning P1 ?
