Early 2 Pounder AP Colours

Hi,

I was wondering when the change over from yellow (middle buff?) to black occurred with 2 Pounder AP projectiles? I ask as I’ve just acquired a 1940 dated MkII AP-T with the screw in disk type tracer. I’m in the process of chemically cleaning off some cosmetic rust and what looks like small traces of yellow paint have appeared in the stamped markings.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi mark only the MKI should be yellow bodied,as it had a HE filling, could it be an AP Practice which would have a yellow band over the black? Tig.

I've finished cleaning it and it appears to be marked:

AP. 2PR II
H. LTD 47 4. 40
A0151. 14

No extra 'P'. :tinysmile_twink_t2:

Not a practice then, attached pic of 2Pdr AP MK III in original paint, similar date to yours, strangely this doesn't have the white tip but the red band for tracer is! If yours isn't repainted I cant explain the yellow. tig
