Hear i find myself with three 89 time delayed action fuses, all with good moving clocks albeit a little on the crusty side.

They are all moving freely and seem to good to section.

What i intend to do is clean and overhall them one at a time and then
look into having a clear plastic outer fuse case made so dispaying them will
make them more interesting to look at.

getting them back to working condition is the aim on this one.

Ive seen these first hand and still cant believe that those clocks still work judging by the state of the outer bodies. There maybe hope for one of mine if i take it apart?

Look forward to seeing the progress on these Phil,

The clocks are almost the same as those in the 17's aren't they?

are parts from the two interchangeable, or are the manufactured differantly?

I defo think so as like you say those outer cases were bad to put it nicely, and these are on pare with a 17a which almost shares the same clock.

Another under represented fuse in my book,so we shall se what a clear case and re furb looks like.

Phil,

Would be interested to hear more about the clear plastic outer fuze case, as I could possibly make use of one for my example. Similar to the ones you have.

What is interesting is on mine is the marking on the fuze head - ('nur fur .....' )its not the same as the one in your picture. I was suprised when I saw it, as I have only ever seen these marked up like yours before. Have you seen this before yourself?

regards Kev

Hi kev

very similar indeed and even made by jurgens of Germany who still make watches today.

the time runs were diferent ie the 89b ran from 1 to 80 seconds and the 89c ran from 2 to 160 seconds.

were as the 17A went for 80 hours give or take.

Different makers/types of 89 and perhaps year of manufacture would make a big change in head types?
Example,i have a couple of 89's and some heads only for the decapitation board(when i get around to making it!).
As per pictures, some are blank and the others have different styles of text.Sorry about the bad lighting, best i could do for tonight. :)

Thanks for that waff, great pics cheers.

Yes, I understand the different manufactures and style of text, but all the ones I have seen (your blank apart), including any written information says the writing is ' nur fur hand Einstellung' the one I have however says 'nur fur Ferneinstellung'

Ok, I know this isn't any great difference, and probably basically means the same thing but find it quite an interesting varient and curious to see if anyone else has come across it. Not my area really, so could be more common than I think....??

Thanks for your help

Hi Kev

I think as paul said it was a manufacturing thing and i will check mine to see if they show some differences.

I will keep you posted on the plastic fuse case as i think it will display the de bodied 89s quite well.

No worries Kev! :)
Its those small, subtle differences that keep the collecting bug alive..

I think you may be right on manufacturing difference, but curious as to if any of yours are marked the same.

Think the clear plastic case sounds great for display, of course my interest in the 89B is the fact it was used in some of the larger containers used to drop SD2's !!

Cheers Kev.
There is a picture on BOCN of one of the fuze keys for the job.
A rarity on its own i would have thought? That rare,i cannot find the picture! I think Ben posted it?

My translator tells me only for remote setting
I think it has to do something with the setting keys they had for them.
