HONOURED MEMBER RIP
Hi All, hope you have a happy new year.
I picked this up in a collection of small arms ammo over the x-mass break, I have never seen such an item (thats what I love about collecting). It is made of copper with brass electric primer.
Can someone please identify this item & what it was used for?
Thanks,
Regards Ozzi.

This is a re-aiming cartridge for the 30mm DEFA Aircraft gun.

Hi ozziammo
I have a similar item but yours looks a bit shorter and mine is made of brass.
Mine is a re-cocking cartridge for the 27x145B Mauser cannon DM 72 Brown band at mouth and marked CTG IMP DM 72 MW-88-2.
It is 49.5mm long, 14.0mm rim, 11.5mm base.
Your cartridge may be different as you have no dimensions but definitely looks like a re-cocking cartridge .

I just saw the DEFA answer above.
