Estate sale finds: unsure if this is even a projectile ? I.D Help

this odd little item came from a Estate sale looks almost like a plump bob !

Looks like a 1" Nordenfelt with a display base added to the base.

Agree with Highlandotter, though the base may be part of the projectile,as they have a 'waist' and flared at the base.
Looks like a nice haul, certainly if you are just getting started in collecting.
