hi everyone.i recently got a fair condition french f1 with a very nice condition fuse .
the question is . .i can only find info on the alloy fuse bodys and not this one with a steel and alloy combo .any info on this fuse would be great as im at a loss regarding its construction.cheers Darrol.
Darrol . That's a Belgian Acec fuze from 1938 . It should be marked on the underside of the alloy part . Belgium used French bodies with their own fuzes prior to WW2 . Mike.
In Northern Finland is an ex. German WW2 storage site where thousands of French and Belgian F1 fuzes were burned. Remains of these smaller ones exist there mixed both with all alloy body and alloy body with steel ring around as here.

Thanks.Is The one in your photo alloy and steel body? As its main body shape ends sharply and not folded under like on mine . .also ive noticed the hump on top of lever is more central .Cheers Darrol
Darrol . Yes , it's alloy & steel . There were about 20 versions of those fuzes & a myriad of variations so I wouldn't worry to much about minor differences .
Thanks .I understand that theres many variations of this fuse but i would still like to find out when and why they used steel on the fuse instead of just sticking to using a simple casting in alloy .i thought to make them cheeper . . Speed up production .thought it may give light on its actual date of manufacture .Cheers Darrol.
