Flare Cartridge

I am presuming this is an Italian flare cartridge due to the label.

Dimensions - 26.5mm x 94.5mm brass case. As one can see, it has a screw in primer which intrigues me, as it seems to be over-engineering. Any further details appreciated.

Hello,
correct. Case made for 25mm Nordenfeld after ww1 used as sub caliber device for large caliber guns. And later used as Flare cartridge. Boffoluto is the Navy Arsenal in Taranto who assembled the cartridge in 1936. Red star built in Taranto in 1936
Case made in 1926 by MB, Metallurgica Bresciana with 4 reloading marks.

Fert,

Thank you very much for the information. One last thing, on the head stamp at about the 2:30 position, there is what appears to be some script. Does this have any significance?

you are welcome,
last script is the "Sabaudo knot" typical acceptance mark for Italian royal navy.
