Found on Bracklesham Bay beach

Hi all,

I found the attached item on Bracklesham Bay beach. I had some feedback on what it might be which included a canon slug - and also a cap toy amongst other things! - but then someone suggested I ask here :)

What should I do with it? I don't really want to keep it regardless to what it is. Is there a proper place to dispose of it?

Thanks in advance everyone.

I presume it's a highly corroded projectile from a 30 mm ADEN practice round. If you go to the link below from this site, and look at the first image, which shows sectioned rounds, it was probably that labelled No. 3 (a Mk. 2Z Practice).

There was an Air to Ground Gunnery and Rocket Projectile Range located here in WW2 and into the 1950's. Named Selsey and Brackleshan Bay Range and included Practice Bombing area.

Attacks with RP and 20mm against targets located parallel with the beach and against an off-shore floating target were made from inland toward the sea.

A corroded 30mm projectile found here implies that the A to G range was used also in the 1950 s for 30mm gunnery probably Hunter aircaft.

Referred to later as Manhood.
