French 37mm knowledge required !!

I've just picked these WW1 French 37's up and am a bit intrigued. I've had several of these before, but I've never seen them with the sharp points before. Could somebody please put me out of my misery and tell me what the significance of them is !!!?

(The cases are dated 16 and both projectiles look to have a 17 on them. One projectile is approx 5mm longer than the other.)

Many thanks

Well that was my first thought, but then I couldn't think why anybody would do it !!! If that's the case, they haven't been altered in any other way.

Yes, they have been. These are typical souvenir rounds for the tourist trade. Easy to make plugs, and it makes for a safer trophy.

I'm surprised I've never seen any before really, I've been to dozens of huge brocantes over the last ten years or so. I was going to sell them anyway (unless they were something out of the ordinary) so I might even leave them as they are !! Thanks for your input.
