French 75 restoration

Bottom feeding today and I have this 75 HE PD to show for it.
I already had the fuze for it. The projectile needs to be cleaned
of remaining nickle plating and have three holes plugged in it. The
case needs some work around the upper edge. How is this
normally done. I never had a 75 before so maybe this is worth while fixing ?
The 18pr was also a lamp, but not expensive.

I think it is a part of a lamp - the nose on it is a thin brass dummy thing as well.
The 75 is the more interesting object to fix up I hope.

Nice shells are you going to paint the 75, my two french 75s one shrapnel and HE i restored the other year

I have never repainted one before. It's a matter of the three holes around the head, if they can be filled
and machined smooth and not show much then maybe not. But other wise I might. Though I have no
experience stenciling. On the other hand this is kind of a fun project and wether I keep it for a great length
of time I have no idea~ maybe it's fate is up to member Shaky ! It's something different I haven't had before.
This time I just happened to have the correct fuze kicking around or I wouldn't have bothered with it in the
first place. The ex lamp 18pr will work out as a stuffer in my 18pr basket with a second rate case and fuze
none of wich can be seen anyways. Maybe these 75s are common over there, likely not so much over here.

Nice little project there. A local welding shop will dot that up for you I'm sure. The local machine shop guy here is expensive, however if you bump into the right person it would be a simple turning on a lathe.
