I know these items are hand-held irritant CS anti riot stores, but I do not have any other information on them. Does anyone else have any manuals etc that cover British Army anti riot kit other than grenades ?
It was basically a CS Portfire that directing staff on an exercise could stick in the ground near your unit's trench system and leave burning, to simulate a gas attack. Obviously it had to be placed upwind for there to be any realism. Just to see if the sentries were awake and to test people in getting their respirators on in quick time.
