Hello,
What mean markings ?
(I can read "Abschlaguersuch")
Regards

Pictures from Us-Subs post (Aberdeen) :

"Abschlagversuch gem?????? 4x um 90° versetzt."

Without the missing word difficult to say what it means, sorry. It could be releated to the sabot ring.

I also wondered what it could mean when I have seen this picture the first time...

Did you try google translate ? I receive as an answer : "rejection request according to 4x offset by 90° - demande de rejet selon décalage 4x de 90°"

OK, it's still not clearer, :hmmmm::hmmmm::hmmmm:, but it may indicate the reason for refusing experimental tests

Sorry, but not really - "rejection request" is a wrong translation for "Abschlagversuch".

A better translation would be "knock off test", but it still isn't a help.

The missing word could be "gemacht" so:

"Abschlagversuch gemacht 4x um 90° versetzt" so it would be:

"Knock off test taken 4 times with 90 degree offset." But I still don't have an idea what they tried to knock off.
