What are the three holes for, in the bottom on a German Bouncing Mine for?

You'll find corresponding holes in the bottom of the bouncing part - these soft screws have held the mine together.
After ignition these screws where sheared off by the 3gr. blackpowder charge in the bottom ... the mine-body went upstairs, the outer pot remained in soil.

Thanks, I'll have to take mine apart again and put the screws through the holes, I noticed them on the bottom plate inside.

They made these mines without the three screws and relied on a tin seal soldered in place. The three screw version is the most common type found.
