German Box????

Ive found this in a show in France. The label is German, but never seen a metal case for Patronen. Could any of you throw light on it, please? Inside is black and out grey, but it is still uncleaned.

I agree with you, it is not common. I am not sure but i think it is captured ammo box and reused for German cartridges.

A label 1000 cartridges is very unusual for a German box.
From the size of the box and label it must be rifle/MG ammunition. sS Patr. (Heavy ball cartr.)

In 1941, bottom right the Germans packed also captured ammo.
For example, it could be a container for packing 8mm Lebel cartridges.

It's a Belgian ammo-box, repacked by the Germans in WW2. This one contained 1000 rounds 7,65x53 Mod30 cartridges, german designation: 7,65mm Patr.s.S.264(b)

greetings
