German cartridge

hi, i have here a german navy cartridge, which seems different to others that i have seen. It appears to have 6 holes near the mouth and a single hole in the base.
can anyone shed some light as to why these are there, ive seen another 21cm case, and photos of others but none have these holes in them.
any help would be great. ive posted pictures below.

Thankyou very much in advance.

I think this is a case for the 21 cm L/40 naval gun. This case looks to be shortened and used for flowers or as a bucket.

Thankyou for the info, i have the height as 836mm. also looks like the primer has been damaged by been removed, or an attempt at removing it.
