German item

Hi,

First post here.

I have visited the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTHS) in Kimberley in South Africa where I stay.

I found an item that is very strange to me. The identification paper with it states it is a late ww2 German rifle grenade.

It is 40mm in diameter but unfortunately I have forgotten its total length.

Can anyone identify the item for me?

Thanks

It's German Wurfgranat-Patrone 326 LP, a HE-shell fired with a normal flare pistol. The shell was loaded in an aluminium case.

Thanks guys. That was truly fast.

I truly do not know how it got there but it is in one piece and I actually took it apart for an "exploded" (excuse the pun) view.
