Hello all, I've had this for a long time. it was given to me as an ersatz handgrenade, German made, possibly for the Volksturm? I have no idea if this is right and never found any info. Body measures 37 x 54 mm and the walls are 5 mil thick. Threaded top has a normal fuze marked hsc 44 with rest of blue color. Can someone help? How many ersatz were actually issued at the end of the war? This little thing would have been easy to carry and efficient enough, especially for urban combat zone (house clearance).

They are German 0,5kg clusterbombs that have been re-used as handgrenade. The clusterbomb normally has a pull fuze with a 0,5 seconds delay attached to a parachute. Bomb body and parachute are packed in a small two halves container.
I have only seen it in the handgrenade version.
Regards, DJH

Thanks, it's definitely a submunition SD0.5 modified, but after reading all the posts, I remain unsure as this is a legit hand grenade or a fake. One thing is sure, I didn't pay anything for it, but that doesn't prove it's real. if anyone has more info, he's welcome to follow up.

In various locations in Poland this greandes were found in large quantities. So in my opinion its 100% real.
