German M28 Burster Adapter

Not sure if this is correct, but the museum had it listed as a German M28 Buster Adapter for an 81MM projectile ... So I will put it out to you guys.
What do you think?

M28 x 1.5 is a standard metric thread so it appears that's what the marking on the (transit) cap seems to indicate. Looks about right for 1.5mm pitch and 28mm diameter.

Hello, looks to me like a part of 8cm Wgr 34 b. (see pic)
Metric thread 28x1,5 is standard for German mortar fuzes (this is a transport plug).

As Bob said, it is the practice version with a liquid smoke filler for a spotting charge. The red "U" is indicating it as an inert (ed) training aid for classrooms.
