German SD-4 bomb concrete practice

Can anyone supply details of the construction of the Concrete Practice version of the WW2 German SD-4 hollow-charge bomb. What exactly is the body made of? Not pure concrete because it responds strongly to a magnet. Is there a steel former inside? All my manuals are quiet on the subject.

Thanks,

Tony.

Hello F0031
Im sure someone else has a better explanation than mine. The few pieces of WW2 German concrete mines and gernades that I have ,have rust marks on the outside. When I toke a closer look you can see small pieces of metal mixed in with the agreget. Please forgive my spelling.I hope this comes close to answering you question.I might even have some research on this somewhere for you later.

These have a metal corset (or a couple of steel rods connected/bent to each other) inside as concrete alone would break apart when stressed. Just like in house construction. You certainly have seen this elsewhere I assume.

Thanks for this information. Here is my specimen. It has had some refurbishment with grey cement and a new coat of paint all over. The fins are in good condition, so mustn't complain. I can see small lumps of rusted iron visible where the new paintwork has flaked off. There are even traces of the original scarlet paint.
