I have an unusual request, what size were German shrapnel balls? I have aquired this beat up US 33rd Infantry Division helmet with a hole and I suspect it is shrapnel damage, not bullet damage. Pointed out here on this forum was US lead ball size, .451". The roundest part of the hole is .470-.480". Judging by the hole and numerous dents, the soldier had one heck of a story to tell.
