German WWI projectile

I attained this a number of years ago, and somewhere in the "life shuffle" I have lost just what it is. It is definitely WWI German. It is app 40mm. Base of projectile has 3 dimples as pictured and top has threaded hole for some sort of fuze. Any ideas?

its a 4cm Schnellwerfer Granate 1917.
This is the first model with three centering holes.
was designed for quickfire 6 grenades at a maximum rate of fire 50 to 120 shots per minute.
