Gibbons No 23 Practice

Just picked this one up today. A Gibbons No 23 in the original zinc coating. Not seen one before. Nice condition with plug dated 1/17.

It's the first one I've had that has also come with the original Gibbons plug. One for the collection I think. John

Any comments on the offset thread in the base plug? were Gibbons sloppy like this? John

The threads for the rod will be concentric with the outside threads of the plug. The boss is asymmetric but that will have a negligible effect on overall centre of gravity of the grenade.

The hole is about 1.5 - 2mm off centre but as you say this would have had little effect. The boss is well off so gives a distorted perspective. John

Most practice grenades are rejects during that time, Gibbons was a excellent re cycler, many of my examples have really bad defects ,,,,,,, Dave
