Green 1" band on First war 18 pr HE

Hello gents,

I'm looking for information on the 1" Green band seen on 18 Pdr HE shells of the first war, in particular what distance was the band painted on the body from the driving band.
My 'RL Handbook on ammunition' gives distances for the Red band on the shoulder but not the Green.
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

(I'm sure this subject has been covered here but can I find it?!....)
