The possibility of conversions of No 23 Grenades to No 36 Grenades has occupied the odd conversation between Snufkin and myself whilst downing yet another mug of tea at the National Archives.

Yesterday I tripped over the attached List of Changes entry for conversions and I am sure the Mills grenade enthusiasts will be interested in the text. Note the date in the margin. It is pretty unlikely that No 36 grenades were in short supply in the UK in 1922 so why bother converting obsolescent No 23 grenades? This Paragraph is from the Indian List of Changes so it is possible that the stock situation there called for conversion. Of course whether or not it was actually carried out is another question.

I apologise if a sudden rush of exceptionally rare No 36 Converted grenades appears on the market as a result of this posting!
