Here is a photo of grenades that were recovered during the investigation into the murder of PC Nicola Hughes and PC Fiona Bone. Can anyone identify them?

yes theyre the 8 black things in the upper left of the picture and the two egg shaped things below them

The top ones are Yugo M75's & the bottom ones Yugo M50's . The shame of it is that there were loads of booby trapped versions of both these grenades that exploded as soon as they were removed from their transit can . If that one eyed scumbag who killed those two brave WPC's who were trying to protect the public from him & his mates had got one of those , the WPC's might still be with us today & he would be in bits all over the street . Thoughts are with the families & friends of the officers.

Between the M75 I can see a glad shaped grenade (third from left above), apparently with the bottom upside. Is that correct ?

I can't zoom in the picture but I believe that the left olive grenade is a M50 and the right one a M52.

The fuzes are UM-P3.

Those models of grenades are actually VERY common in the banditry in our country.

Thanks for the replies.

Yodamaster: From what I have read, all sorts of weaponry from the Balkan area has found its way into the UK criminal underworld. I remember reading that the HE used in the 2005 London Underground bombings may have originated there.

I'm working in Belgium and we found regularly Ex-Yug ammunition back !

All the series of handgrenades : M50, M52, M75 and others after war !

In some respects I'm surprised so few have been used. I have Russian customer who told me that you can still buy live F1 type grenades at their boot fairs! He had seen them used in disputes between neighbours!!! He also told me that his son went to a boot fair and came back with a 250 round belt of live ammo!

With the EU open borders and few checks I suspect these could spread everyehere.
