gun emplacements

i live on the western isles and just wondering if anyone knows any more info about ww2 sites/lookout posts on the island any info would be grate in the 1st pic the is two gun emplacements on either side of the pic you can still where the used to be & the main lookout in the middle 2nd pic is one of three smaller lookouts but does anyone what the pipe is on the top all the bunkers are looking out to the minch they are near the arnish Fabrication Yard locals say that the guns were test fireing and they dropped the round right on top of the airport

Good condition.

They look to be in very good condition and thanks for showing us.
The pipe you mention may I am guessing have been for a mounting searchlight.

Fashinmick,i found this information "This WW II coastal battery is situated at Arnish Point beyond a fabrication yard. Consisting of two gun-emplacements, battery observation post and two searchlight platforms. The battery was armed with two 4-inch guns and was manned by the Royal Navy throughout the war"

Hi i was over at Arnish point last year 2012 got some pictures i was always told it was mark 7 6 inch guns, But the mount would be the mk16 4 inch as spotter says . ive added a picture of two 4" mk 16 shell cases . locals say there was also 40mm bofors and a 20mm cannon ? behind the emplacments were the barracks just ruins as you can see in the pictures ..
in land just next to the golf coarse they have found the remains of a 3.7" AAA battery not recorded ive took some pics of that from a distance as work is being carried out there at the moment , you can see it from the stornoway war memorial
