"harder to find" German WW1 grenades

Pictured here would be four of my favorite German WW1 hand grenades. I don't know if i'd call them rare but defo in the "hard to find" catagory. Pictured is m1913n/A transitional kugel with m1917 zinc-alloy igniter, m1913 defensive baby discus, large early war box petard, and "kugelkopft" percussion stick. I think maybe I just wanted to record them together in a picture/thread as they may have to go. One of my squids is in dire need of help and just cannot say no. Will however exercise all other options and will price them where they may scare off potential buyers!!!..Dano

hello dano nice stuff ive only seen one in relic condition for sale said to hear they might have to go hope you can find a alterntive

kind regards
alex

Thanks guys, I'm now pretty sure they'll be staying as I have come up with an alternative. It did take some time to get them. Darn kids get in trouble and the old mans job to bail them out....Dano

I just took these grenades OFF the auction block as I have decided they will stay come what may. I have sold off stuff before and not too many days go by without regretting it. I love BOCN, you guys are the best.........Dano

I sold the best of my collection a few years back and still kick myself for doing so. The money, no matter how much, will never bring you the happiness or excitement that your collection did. Everytime I think of the stuff I sold, I get a little depressed and have to think of something else. If anyone is in need of cash, sell something else around the house or get a weekend job. Don't sell the stuff that took you years to find. Trust me, you will regret it in the end. I have started collecting again, but my collection will never be what it was before. :s:

Hey Moondoggy,
You're not alone - we all have sold items with regrets later on......I wish I kept my couple of 15pdr rounds (one complete Ap + HE projectile) - have not seen one since! BUT I did keep the fuzes!!!! :)

Hey Dan,
I have been good mate - I'll been too absorbed with my 18pdr puzzle to have a chance to email you with another auction pickup.......that's two of the rotten little things that got to go!!! (hint hint!!!)

See, I'm just desperate to find fuzes and end up slipping back to the "bad old days" ....ho humm, I know - no discipline what so ever!!!

Cheers
Drew

I agree completely,I had my first collection stollen by my daughter for drugs and my health hit hard and was not expected to live once.Iwas in the hospital 14 months, thank GOD thats over, but I had to sell everything but my grenades and even a few of them.It heart really Bad and still dose sometimes but I feel blessed to be alive and thanks to my wonderful women I can still collect some. But I agree if you are a true collector of ordance try to hold on if you can,but we do have to pay bills and eat.
Good luck to all.:tinysmile_classes_t

Well said moondoggy. I sold out twice and had some grenades that I will probably never get again. In the end you can make money but you can't make these. Was about to make same mistake again. My wonderful wife told me to keep them at all costs because she knows how much I love them. In the end I don't look back, that is history so to speak. If we don't learn from our mistakes we are doomed to repeat them.....Dano
P.S. moondoggy, from pics you have posted from pieces in your collection i'd have to say you recovered well...DK
