HELP !! Has anybody seen one of these before??

Hi,
It's one of the two models of Wilhelm stielhandgranate 1916. The mechanism in the handle was too complex for mass production.
I'm not comfortable enough in English to explain how it works, but I'll give a try :
The grenade was thrown after removing the cap at the bottom of the handle. The weighted pin was ejected, allowing a spring to open the shutter. The striker lever is only maintained by the ball which ejects on impact.
Hope my explanation is clear.

Thank you for that, it appears to be exactly it. However possible the head is a rebuild. Shouldn't have been in a WWII display though I doubt if any serviceable units survived WWI
Let alone made it to WWII for use?
