Hi Hasag, I think this is the monogram of Maxim Nordenfelt, who were the firm that joined with/were taken over by Vickers, to become Vickers Son & Maxim.
Hi,dont know much about 1 Pounders but that projectile is very interesting with the base plug. Does it unscrew at all and what sort of thread has it? Would it accept a Hotchkiss type base fuze as used in British service? Regards Tig.
That is a British type and I tried other Hotchkiss type base fuzes-US,Italian, German, none fit. I don't have thread gauges so can't comment on thread system or size. highland otter
Why would this have both a nose fuze and a base fuze? All the 1-pdr projectiles I have seen so far have had either one or the other. Could one (or both) of them be a plug?? Regards, Roger
