Can you help with this cartridge case please? It is about 40mm diameter.
It was unearthed during excavation work at Brooklands Museum the former home of the Vickers / BAC aircraft factory.

The Rover AAPP (Airborne Auxilliary Power Plant) had a cartridge start version. I have no idea what the cartridges looked like, but this may be one.
 
It is as Alpini says. Rover tested their jet engined car at Brooklands. Nothing ever came of the concept.
 
British Leyland also tested a gas turbine powered truck in 1968. Nothing came of that either. I believe there are still one or two working examples out there.
