HMS Caroline in Belfast

The warship HMS Caroline opened to the public this week after an extensive restoration. The ship is a C class light cruiser which weighs almost 4000 tons and has the distinction of being the only remaining veteran of the battle of Jutland. This will certainly be worth a visit for the sake of touring a historic warship. However ordnance fans may be disappointed because I believe that the guns and ammunition are reproductions. Anyone visiting Belfast this summer should look out for this at the Alexandria dock, titanic quarter.

Hi Tony
Apparently the deckhouse which looks like a barn dates from the 1920s and they intend to retain it. It was originally built to house guns for training purposes. I suspect that this will allow the ship to be hired for functions such as wedding receptions in the future.
