Huge chunk of brass. (German Naval Fuze??)

I came upon this heavy piece today for an even heavy price of 220€'s.

The "story" behind it is that it was found at sea... (whilst fishing with nets probably.)

I've search around for heavy navy shells, and torpedoes. And found nothing.

So here are the pics. (Big format!!)

Hopefully someone can give me some clarity and also tell me if it's really worth 220€. I haven't bought this yet.

The cipher code (S 409) is the only marking visible. The inside is completely empty and I didn't see any mechanism beside the big screw on the front.

I don't really have mesurements, but I think it's about 25-30cm in hight. And as I said very heavy... 10-15kg's??? (about 25pounds.)

Thanks. ;-)

In my un professional opinion I would say it has nothing to do with a fuze. It looks more like a thread protector that is screwed onto the end of a shaft to protect the threads when the shaft is pushed through a series of holes, maybe a propeller shaft or similar. The screw on the side is a locking screw designed to stop the protector coming off until required.

I suspect that it may be a fairing for a marine propeller. It would screw onto the boss behind the propeller to streamline it.
