I'm struggling to ID a recent aquisition. Case is brass, 76.2mm x 463mm R as near as I can measure and is thick walled. Base markings are 'K' in a circle, '1' and what looks like 'N'. Three punch marks at the neck. It came with a primer protector that is un marked.
I originally thought this was early British, perhaps contract, but am having doubts. Is the 'K' the mark of The American Brass Co ? Is the 'N' naval or Nordefeld or something else? I have never seen a case of this size with the rim type in the picture. Any help in identifying would be appreciated, including what projectile it would take.
