hard to tell, we had some many of these laying around (engineers trying to make them work). I thought since the hole is near where the fuze went could be an opening just to see how the fuze would fit or look. then again it could be a inerting hole. I have a folder on the round, let me go through it and see if I can find anything else on it
Thank you very much for you help on this. By the way, hard to see in the photo I posted, but it has two holes in the projectile that look precision placed and symetricaly placed.

No the big caliber stuff was made at Iowa AAP, I worked at one of GDs own plants in Marion IL. Yes as soon as I have time I'll load up what I have on this round.
