hi there
im new to this, and have dug this up,....but have no idea, what it is, or even if it is related to some type of artillery, or army vehicle!!
if anybody could shed any light, would be greatfull!
do you have any more photos from different angles ? did you dig it up on a known site used by the army/air force/Navy ?
a photo from the top might help a bit.
sorry forgot to say...its about 2inches high, and 4 inches wide, circle shaped with 4 arches, one arch has a hole (as shown),solid base .... still in process of cleaning it, anybody got any tips for cleaning this????
also it is cast!

It looks like it may be the sort of thing asociated with scaffolding where you place a scaffold tube inside it and then secure it with a "grub" screw.
There are numerous peices similar to this used for erecting guard rails along rivers and the like and they come in all sizes up to I believe 3 inch tube diameter.
