Does anyone have any idea what these two cases are. I did think they might be Flare Carts because of the small crimp at the top, but the spigots on the bottom of the case make me question that. They have No markings.

We need dimensions of the rim, base and case diameter to make an ID.
Somebody made a knob for a primer, but it does look a bit like a French flare case? Maybe from some trench-art item?

The Case is 25mm dia and 70mm long including the spigot, the base is about 27 or 28mm in dia. The remains in the carts come about half way up.

Your dimensions match a French 25mm flare case (as I suggested). Model 1917?
See diagram showing the screw-off base construction.
Case is 100mm long and was not crimped at the mouth. Your case has been shortened.
A common headstamp is R=1933 or 1930 dates. Yours may have been removed or polished off?
