Identification of 75mm Turkish shell (and case)

Darkman

Well-Known Member
I have this 75mm Turkish shell that i need to positively identify so that I can determine the dimensions of the cart case I need for it. (I'm looking to buy a matching case for it.)

The shell is 176mm long, about 186mm with the fuze adapter. Is this a Krupp m1904 Mountain Gun shell? The only stamps on it are on the base: 12M12 and a stylised MU(?). Is this for Magdeburg? Which cart case would this shell have used? 75 x 200R?

Thanks for any information.

Graeme

Hello
The frequently encountered 7,5 cm Shrapnel shell measures 221 mm including reducer without fuze.
I am not sure that the adapter fuze system is suitable for your shell body which seems rather to be approximately a 7,5cm Mountain Krupp shell (dimensions varying from 186 to 196 mm without fuze)

Hello
No doc but I made severals observations for a few years :
I had a long one in my hands, 223mm without fuze. I collected pictures on forums of the same shell with a long case. As it's a collector combination, I'm not sure it's the good case :

I also collected pictures of short one (the same as yours Darkman), with different cases (collector's combinations !) :

This one with a Rhenimettal case (stamp on base) :

This one with a short german case with turkish markings on primer :

Doctor,

I’m not quite sure what you’re saying? The adapter and fuze I have doesn’t suit a 7,5cm Krupp Mountain Gun shell? They weren’t shrapnel shells?

Minenaz16,

So collectors tend to stuff the shells in any 7,5cm case they find?

I’m still confused!!
