I'm on the road for work and found myself with a few hours off, but unable to find any shows, surplus stores, collectors - and only one museum in the area. But what a museum. I'm not a big gun person (by US standards) but the the Museum at Rock Island Arsenal is impressive for almost anyone. The second oldest US military museum, it holds a fantastic collection of more than 1200 firearms, many of which they developed, modified or evaluated for the Army. While very little explosive ordnance is on display, they do claim to have some. If I am able to sneak away for 1-2 hours this next week, their Director has kindly offered to open the vault area for me for a short viewing. In the meantime, if you are able to stop in for a visit, here is a short preview of what is on display.
