IIWW Japanese map of Formosa

I went to a gun show near Camp Lejeune. There was a dealer with an old Japanese pilot map of Asia still with pilot's drawings of flight paths. Notice that Japan proper, Korea, Formosa and half of Sakhalin Island are pink, indicating that they are parts of the Empire of Japan. That is important today when another country is claiming the ownership of Formosa. The Island of Formosa was given to Nationalist Government of China by occupational forces of Japan after Japan unconditionally surrendered in 1945.
Oh, yeah, the young amongst you don't know what Formosa is. So, it is the old name of a big island near China. But you probably know it as Taiwan. Taiwan was a name of a small tribe residing on that island. Since Chiang Kai-shek hated Japanese as much as he hated Mao Zedong, he changed the old Japanese connected name Formosa into Taiwan.
