Italian Glass Vial

I just acquired this item and have no idea what it is ...
So the external container is 19MM in diameter and 93MM long /// the vial is 12mm (widest point) 8MM at neck and 52MM long.
The material in the vial is a black grainy substance.

from what I can translate:
uso: prima di rompere la fiala, adattarne la strozzatura nell'incavo dell'unita limetta, facendo poi rotare la fiala contro dl essa a leggera frizione.
use: before breaking the vial, adjust the restriction in the notch of the nail unit, then rotate the vial against it with a slight friction.

Looks like Iodine crystals for making up tincture of Iodine antiseptic solution. The label also appears to say Iodine (Italian - Iodio).

I thought it translated to Iodine ... but the IODIO looks like a JODIO. However, it is old and smudged.

Confirmed. From Istituto Chimico Farmaceutico Militare in Florence (since 1853), now Stabilimento Chimico Farmaceutico Militare.
