The movie was remarkable also for the amount of negative and legal publicity it created https://variety.com/2021/film/global/echoes-of-the-past-kalavryta-1943-massacre-1235103647/. Movie's writer-producer, being a lawyer himself, went to "war" even before cinema release. Taking a known historical event and partially modifying it is not good for anyone. Making a fictitious "good" Nazi an Austrian did not help too. Should have made him Frisian or something. Picking on Hitler's birth country was not wise.
