good morning, does anyone know why India was still making MkVI .303 ammunition in 1940? Is there any advantage of a round nosed bullet over a spitzer type or were they just using up existing stocks of MkVI bullets. presumably they were aware that the rest of us had moved on from round nosed bullets.

any thoughts would be appreciated

many thanks, Dave

The Indian Army continued to use earlier versions of the Lee-Enfield rifles than the British army. So, to match the ballistics to the rifle proof pressures and sight graduations earlier patterns of ammunition were used.
