L9A2 Barmine experimental

Hi, I am looking for any information on the British L9A2 Barmine experimental, specifically what it was inertly filled with, I have one but don't really wish to drill into it ( though I may have to) it does have the purple band painted on each end.
Any info not already on the Web would be much appreciated thank you. (Former RE EOD)

I shall try to upload photo asap.

The L9 series are HE blast Mines as has already been said, could you post a photo of both the top ends of the mine in Question, and what colour is it. also what is the fuze No, these details will help identify what series it is from. and that it is inert. Rich

Richard the fuze IS inert, I was told by the seller that the Experimental L9A2 was filled with a High Explosive Simulant and has written me an FFE though I am unsure of this fill?

The body appears to be from an L9A1 it has Moulded filling caps the A2 has a mechanical plugs the filling in both ends will probably be either hardened caster oil or Plasticine, HE sim is basically Plasticine/modelling clay. The L90 fuze has had the sensing element and the detonator removed to make it inert as is clearly visible in your photo. the activating cover is also missing an inch and you can see the rubber tubes that would have contained the hydraulic fluid which was a ethylene glycol and distilled water mixture.

Hi Richard, thank you very much for that information, couldn't find anything out there.
Best wishes to you.

Your kit kat was one used to trial the FWAM fuze, (I was on the trial).
By the way your FFE is worth nothing, unless it came from a source that can prove their formal training to conduct ffe's . Be assured there are few of us that I know of and all in official positions.
