4.5" Primer for Vaval use
Naval 4.5" Brass case primer with an adaption made to it for some reason ??
The attached photo is of what one would normally expect to find in a standard Naval 4.5 Inch Brass case.
Your prmer appears to have been adapted to take a smaller electric primer from a smaller Ordnance.

This appears to be an L1A4 primer electric. The L4A1 electric primer was used in 105mm tank gun ammunition for the L7 gun and US equivilent. It is interesting that the igniter is a US M59 electric igniter possibly indicating some interchangeability between US and UK components.
