Hi to all thought I would post some pics and sizes of a unusual very large shotgun type projectile ,this is a 11 inch garrison case shot for the 25 ton r.m.l gun of the 1870s_90s ,its construction is interesting the base is made of 3 discs of wrought iron 2 - 5mm ,1 - 15mm which is the base all held together with rivets which weighs 20lb ,the 3 sides are 11 inches tall and 12.5 mm thick and each weigh at least 15lb the shot themselves are 8 Oz and there are 210 of them in the 1877 treatise it has quite a good description and also explains the large size of the components which are needed to stand up to the enormous pressures this gun creates when fired it also mentions that it must break up upon leaving the barrel almost like a sabot leaving the shot to fly ,I believe the top and outer have been replaced at some point but it shows some interesting ideas of construction and I could not find anything quite the same on the forum
