Latest Find - 53mm. Hotchkiss

Found in an antique shop on the way back from our camping trip. Nothing tremendous, but couldn't pass it for $35. Partially and poorly, not worn, done stamping of "TCHK" and "PAT...." on the base. Interesting 'progressive' driving band. Unfortunately the fuze is gone.

I think you did quite well there, especially as it's unfired. Now you need to find a case and a fuze to go with it.
 
image.jpgimage.jpgNice find, I thought I would post a picture of a French 53mm case that I have alongside a larger 57mm Belgium case. The case is 53x176R, with a rim diameter of 63mm, markings are slightly obscured but I would read them as 53 RUUM, RS, L23, 17D, which would make the case a 1917 example, very glad if anybody could explain the RUUM abbreviation.
