The Australian Law-Adams grenade was an experimental grenade from 1917 and is rarely seen as a photograph.
Rather than re-type the history I will quote from the two grenade books from Rick Landers and Darryl Lynn using book extracts.
Photo 1 shows a grenade without the threaded hole so may be a production stage. The inside is cast with segmentations to aid breakup.
Photo 2 shows a similar grenade with a fuze and cap sealed at the hole. This came from a museum and matches the L-A grenade.
Photo 3 shows the Law-Adams grenade top view.
Photo 4 shows the side view.
Photo 5 shows the fuze removed
Photo 6 shows the inside view of the sharp V segments in the casting to aid breakup.
Dimensions are as follows:
Diameter is 71mm (2 3/4"). Untapped hole is 15mm. Wall thickness is around 9mm. Steel ring is 2.7mm (0.109").
The brass fuze holder is 20.8mm (0.825") and is threaded 1/2" BSPx14 threads.(shown as 1/2" ga).
Weight is 1lb 5oz for the untapped one. 1lb 6oz for the complete empty Law-Adams. Quoted as 1lb 4oz in the texts which seems wrong. ( Heavier when filled).
