They look like a variation on the Clarkson case and other charge carriers used by RN.
British ones usually had a calibre marked on them. The navy had the same calibre, although the gun may change, for a hundred years or more.
The cases never wore out and were used with BL charges when naval guns were being served and in RNADs. A popular calibre was 4.5".
